Insider Tips for Theme Park
Tickets at Disney

If
you have Magic Your Way base Disney
theme park tickets and wish to upgrade
it to Non-Expiring, Park Hopper, or Plus, this
must be done within 14 days of first use and
before you have used up all the days. Even though
you have used some of the days, you will have
to pay the full cost based on the original number
purchased on your ticket. The upgrade can be
done at Guest Relations at the park.
If you have purchased your Disney theme
park tickets from an authorized ticket
seller such as DW Tickets, Disney will upgrade
your ticket with zero issues—as long as
you do it before you use the last day; however,
the cost basis for the ticket will be calculated
on the wholesale price to the ticket agent,
not the retail price you have paid.
If you have old Disney theme park tickets
with non-expiring days leftover, it is better
to use up the tickets than to apply the value
toward a new, more expensive ticket. Otherwise
the cost is calculated as follows: The Guest
Relations person enters your ticket numbers
into his computer, which tells him which parks
you have visited and on which dates, and the
average dollar value assigned for each day of
use. The value left would be available to apply
to the purchase of a new ticket. There is no
value assigned to any Plus days—they are
lost.
If you buy a non-expiring child’s ticket
and have unused days, and next time you return
the child is over 10, you can have Guest Relations
convert the ticket to an adult ticket. There
is no additional charge to do this. If the child
is only 11 or 12, don’t bother; just use
the ticket as is.
If you purchased 3 day Disney
theme park tickets and wish you had
purchased 4 day tickets, present your tickets
at the Guest Relations window before your tickets
expire and within 14 days of first use, and
ask for them to be upgraded with an additional
day. You will pay only the difference between
the cost of a 3 day ticket and a 4 day ticket.
If you are attending a convention
in the area, check with the convention organizer
to see if special discounted convention tickets
are available.
