Itinerary for a 3 Day Disney
World Vacation
While it is nice to have a
week for your Disney World vacation,
for many families it is not possible time wise
or budget wise. If you have only 3 days for
your vacation, here are my suggestions on how
to schedule your park days:
The
parks with the most to see and do are Magic
Kingdom and Epcot. Plan to spend a full vacation
day at each of these parks. Animal Kingdom closes
early evening, so for the third day, go to Animal
Kingdom in the morning. This is recommended
from another standpoint too—the animals
will be out in the morning, but taking shelter
from the heat in the afternoon. Then after lunch
head for MGM Studios for the rest of the day.
You will need the Park Hopper ticket option
to go to two parks the same vacation day.
Because your time is limited,
you can maximize your Disney World vacation
by staying at one of the Disney Resorts so you
can take advantage of the Extra Magic Hours
and closeness to the Disney World parks.
If you arrive for your Disney
World vacation on Saturday, your itinerary might
look like this:
Saturday
afternoon: Arrive at Disney World and check
into Resort Hotel. Check in time is 3 p.m. If
arriving earlier, ask if your room is ready
early; if not, check your luggage, preregister,
and start enjoying your day. Activities for
your first partial day of your vacation might
include exploring the Disney World resort and
grounds, taking part in resort activities, enjoying
the pool and lounge area, visiting other Disney
resorts, taking in Downtown Disney or the discount
Disney shops and discount mall shopping. Pick
up Park Guides, verify park hours, and decide
which attractions you want to visit.
Sunday:
Start your first full day of vacation with a
visit to Animal Kingdom. Plan your morning around
show times as these are the big attraction at
Animal Kingdom. There is a Tip Board in Discovery
Island; also pick up a Times Guide & New
Information card. Don't miss the Kilimanjaro
Safaris trip; the whole family will enjoy seeing
the animals of Africa in a native habitat. Early
afternoon leave for Hollywood Studios, enjoy the attractions
and the amazing Fantasia Show, then Extra Magic
Hours after the park closes for regular guests.
Monday: Epcot has the morning
Extra Magic Hour so this is your vacation day
for Epcot. Test Track and Soarin' are the attractions
that will have long lines later in the day,
so do these now as many times as you want. Visit
the beautiful Pavilions in World Showcase and
sample a few of the many specialties from the
various countries. Finish your evening with
the show spectacular on the Lagoon, IllumiNations:
Reflections of Earth.
Tuesday:
Your third day is at Disney World Magic Kingdom.
Just inside the park pick up a current Times
Guide listing Special Hours, Height Requirements,
Show Times, Character Greeting Times, and Parade
and Fireworks Times. At park opening time the
characters are out to greet and sign autographs
at the front of the park. Family of all ages
will enjoy Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin.
End your day with the magnificent SpectroMagic
Parade followed by Wishes, a fireworks display
over the Castle.
